Did someone say bear tour?
Let’s do this.
From festive hikes, water, activities and accommodations, we built the ultimate guide to fall in Washington County.
With miles and miles of trails, we've got you covered for the best day hiking, biking, kayaking or just immersing into nature in Bearolina.
You’re in luck, Bearolina has two local coffee shops that will keep you caffeinated, cozy and waterside. Both are easy to get to without navigating too far from the highway, have flexible hours, and offer insight into the charm of eastern North Carolina.
A 1.34 mile self-guided walking tour of Historic downtown Plymouth, can be completed by foot (or by car, if you prefer) at your own pace. In the heart of downtown, the tour meanders through the mostly flat terrain of this riverside town, taking you back to 1810 with pre-civil war structures to today.

Hundreds of thousands of snow geese have landed in North Carolina, the final stop in their migration. And this year you are in for a treat. Bird enthusiasts are reporting it’s the best season birders have even seen for snow geese in eastern North Carolina. So if you’ve been dreaming of seeing the “snow geese snowglobe” of Bearolina, read on for tips to make it one of your most memorable experiences yet.
Bearolina is home to an Important Birding Area (IBA) - the Pungo-Pocosin Lakes IBA. It’s not a secret to the birds traveling the Atlantic Flyway - a wintertime visit to Bearolina is a magical experience.
