Just a short drive to Roper, takes Somerset Place State Historic Site and Pettigrew State Park — a site to see in any season. It has nine miles of hiking or biking trails that take you by the 16,600 acres Lake Phelps. Somerset Place, an old pre-civil war plantation with years of history. It is an excellent place to take in history and enjoy peaceful views.
