Bear Lovers Paradise at the National Black Bear Festival

Each June on the banks of the Roanoke River, the town of Plymouth, North Carolina celebrates the magnificent black bear. Native to North Carolina, the largest black bears on the planet are found in eastern North Carolina and the highest concentration of black bears in the world is here on the Albemarle – Pamlico Peninsula. The purpose of this festival is to educate the public and celebrate these animals.

One of the festival's primary goals is to promote conservation efforts aimed at protecting black bear populations and their habitats. Through fundraising initiatives and outreach programs, organizers work to support conservation organizations dedicated to preserving the future of these magnificent creatures for generations to come.
